    I think it's a pretty good idea as well. One other reason that this would be interesting for both sides, in particular Amazon, would be the recommendations aspect of the site experience.

    Amazon has done recommendations very well for as long as we all can remember. Yet, I would say that Netflix has generally been viewed as being even better at recommendations. If Amazon could leverage Netflix's recommendation technology to help with their up and cross selling the acquisition may pay for itself over the coming years.

    Intriguing perspective! Though I tend to think Amazon will do its very best to compete with Netflix instead. I don't see the market consolidating that fast - which might be better for consumer choice (or maybe not). Our perspective at Jinni is that as more and more sites like Amazon and Netflix offer streaming / downloading, a "universal" catalog that offers strong search over all the services will become increasingly useful.

    I only buy movies on amazon with a discount. Just check www.discount-hunt.com regular and use their moviesearch.

    dude why would Amazon pay $2+ billion for NFLX streaming service - I am sure that could create their own for less than $20 million!! It is really all about negotating contracts with studios - something anyone could do - and loading the movies digitally - which amazon already has done much of this
