I've never even thought about commenting till now. I guess if I really like a post I find myself checking the external links for

more and favoriting (if that is a word) the post instead.
From now on though I'll definitely try and drop a comment every so often.

I use disqus purely because its a simple format that doesn't require user registration. The number of blogs using the system would suggest that it must be doing something right.

Well, I can't say anything about spam. But, I guess disqus give us more power to control all comments in our posts. We can easily remove them or edit them, without have to log in to the blog. Mustafa at disfunzione erettile

My opinion at the moment is that Disqus is probably the better of the two for managing comments on your own site, but that Backtype may be the better solution for tracking your own comments off your own site. Together, they make a powerful toolset for tracking your digital footprint and keeping all your online conversations straight.
